OUTshine LGBTQ+ Film Festival has chosen OutScuba to be their Community Partner at a special showing of Odd Fish on April 26th!! We will be the festival’s special guest for the film and will make a short announcement to let audience members know about Out Scuba and the club we are building. Odd Fish (Ljósvíkingar), set in a small fishing village in Iceland’s northern Westfjords, follows childhood friends Björn and Hjalti, who run a popular seafood restaurant. Their close partnership is shaken when Björn comes out as a trans woman, forcing both their friendship and the entire community to confront deeply ingrained beliefs. As Björn embarks on her journey of self-discovery, Hjalti struggles to reconcile his emotions, torn between loyalty and personal biases. Through moments of conflict, growth, and reflection, the film delves into themes of identity, acceptance, and transformation, offering a heartfelt exploration of love, resilience, and the courage to embrace change.

The OUTshine LGBTQ+ Film Festival is South Florida’s premier LGBTQ+ cultural arts event, originating from the Miami Gay & Lesbian Film Festival (1998) and the Fort Lauderdale Gay & Lesbian Film Festival (2008). These two iconic festivals merged under one dynamic brand, reflecting our vibrant, multicultural audience and international recognition.

As a critically acclaimed platform, OUTshine is more than just a film festival—it’s an immersive experience designed to inspire, entertain, and educate. Their mission is to foster community and celebrate LGBTQ+ stories through diverse films, videos, and media that explore historical and contemporary perspectives.
