Our friends at Force-E Scuba Centers organize a free night dive on Blue Heron Bridge at Phil Foster Park twice per month. What can you see at night that you cannot see during the day? Everything!! So many of the creatures that call the park home are nocturnal that we cannot even name them all. But definitely expect to see the lurkers like octopus and the stalkers like tarpon and barracuda on the hunt. Who knows, you may even run across a turtle, a spotted eagle ray or a goliath grouper.
Because the park is closed at night, you MUST have a parking pass that is only available from Force-E. Check in at Force-E Riviera before the event and be ready to enter the water no later than 7 p.m. Rentals are available from the shop if you need them. This is an unguided dive! If you are interested in a guide, the cost is $50 per diver and can be worked out by contacting Force-E directly.
In addition to your normal dive gear, tank and weights, you will need one primary light and one backup light. Each buddy group must also have its own state-legal dive flag with a mounted light on it.
Divers must check in at Force-E Riviera before the event, fill out a waiver, and show proof of certification. A parking pass is required: Vehicles without a pass will be ticketed. All vehicles must be out of the parking lot no later than 10 pm to avoid fines.
Heck yes! Sign me up to dive Blue Heron Bridge at night with Out Scuba.
