The Wreck of the Sea Emperor site is famous for its artificial reef created from a sunken barge and its spilled pile of concrete culverts called the Aqua Zoo. The diversity and size of the marine life that inhabits this wreck is out of this world. The stars of the show include Goliath Groupers, nurse sharks, huge green moray eels and the thousands of reef fish that make diving here special. The Sea Emperor began as a hopper barge that was confiscated as part of a fine paid by a dredging company that damaged the reef in Palm Beach County. Now located on the Palm Beach/Broward County line, the Sea Emperor flipped over when it was sunk and the stack of culverts that were on top formed a famous mess that larger fish absolutely love to hide out in.
After the wreck dive, we’ll do a nice relaxing drift dive along one of the ledge reefs that are popular near the Hillsboro Inlet. This will be captain’s choice, but we commonly see turtles and larger southern stingrays on these dives, along with grouper and the occasional shark.
These dives are perfect for Open Water certified scuba divers as well as Advanced Open Water divers.
Normally, this trip would cost $99 plus tanks for each diver, but Skip has discounted the price to $75 per person if you supply your own tanks for Out Scuba members. Tank rentals are available from Skip, but you will need to pay for them a la carte. This price is for Out Scuba members only! If you haven’t joined Out Scuba yet, this discount alone will pay for your membership. Make sure you join Out Scuba today! How do you sign up? Just use the RSVP form below. We’ll be in touch to get your credit card information and use that to hold your place until the day of the dive. Please be aware that Skip and AquaLife Divers are big supporters of Out Scuba, and we hope you’ll support them in return.
So glad you can join us on this fun dive for all levels of divers.
