Blue Heron Bridge in April

April 19 @ 12:30 pm - 2:30 pm

Free
Horseshoe Crab

Blue Heron Bridge in Palm Beach County’s Phil Foster Park is one of our favorite shore dives. The entry is easy and protected from waves, it’s a great spot for snorkelers as well as divers, and the crazy amount of unusual wildlife is off the charts! We’ve seen the ubiquitous Seahorses there, as well as odd bottom dwellers like Horseshoe Crabs (pictured), Peacock Flounder, Pike Blennies, Garden Eels and Sea Robins. Throw in giant Goliath Groupers, passing Eagle Rays and all of the colorful reef fish and you know you’ve got a special spot. The goal this time is to find an octopus! Come help us look for this elusive camouflage expert and add tons more critters to your bucket list. “Ocean Nerd” Christopher will be on hand and able to help you identify the strange things you see, so don’t forget to bring your slate along with all of your own gear. Because this is a shallow spot, it’s best to dive overweighted. Remember, there is no dive shop onsite, and you’ll have to be self-sufficient for all of your gear. Make sure you RSVP and let us know you’re coming. You will want to find a parking spot no later than 11 am in order to get in a great dive. Time listed for the event is our planned time into the water, you should be geared up and have performed your weight check at least 15 minutes prior. If you are renting gear, please consider using one of our two supporting shops: Scuba Network or Force-E Scuba. Both have offered members 15% off on all rentals. If you’re not a member yet, why don’t you join Out Scuba? A couple of rentals will more than recoup the cost of membership and it’s critical that we support the dive companies that support us.
