Let’s be honest—membership renewals aren’t exactly thrilling. We know you’re probably equalizing like crazy just to choke the article down. 😉 Renewals are not as exciting as booking a trip or upgrading your gear, and they definitely don’t come with the adrenaline rush of a new adventure. But they are important. Out Scuba depends on our paid memberships as one way to keep functioning as a club.
Because our memberships renew every year on the date you first joined, a lot of our very first members are going to start seeing notifications in their email box that it is time to renew. The price is still $25 for a member and $50 for an instructor member, and we hope you’re getting the most out of being part of Out Scuba.
If you already have set up auto renew on your account, then hopefully you won’t have to do anything – assuming your credit card number hasn’t changed. 😉 This guide is your friendly reminder to check your renewal status, understand what’s at stake, and make sure you’re not caught off guard—especially if you’re on auto-renew or opted out of it. Let’s dive in.

Why Memberships Matter
Memberships are one of the primary ways that Out Scuba pays for things like our website and our quarterly events and potlucks. As we grow the club, we have lots of plans for member only benefits that we hope to start rolling out soon.
In short, your membership helps keep the wheels turning—both for you and for this organization that you support.
You can login to your membership and see what you’ve got setup by going to the login page. If you have lost your password, you can always reset it by using the link on the login page.
Auto-Renewal: Convenient, But Not Foolproof
If you’ve opted into auto-renewal, great! You’re less likely to miss a deadline or lose access to membership. But don’t assume everything is running smoothly. Here are a few things to watch out for:
1. Check Your Payment Method
Is your credit card still valid? Has your billing address changed? If your payment fails, your membership could lapse without warning.
2. Watch for Charges
Auto-renewals often happen quietly. You might not get a heads-up before the charge hits your account. Set a calendar reminder to check your renewal date and review the charge when it comes through.
Manual Renewal: You’re in Control—But You’ve Got to Act
If you chose not to auto-renew, that’s totally fine. You’re in control of your finances and your commitments. But it also means the responsibility is on you to renew manually—and that’s where things can slip through the cracks.
1. Set Reminders
Put your renewal date in your calendar with a few alerts leading up to it. Life gets busy, and it’s easy to forget until it’s too late. We’re also going to send you emails, but understand that sometimes emails get drowned out in the flood of other email.
2. Update Your Info
When you renew, double-check your contact details, preferences, and payment method. This ensures you get all the communications and perks you’re entitled to.
A Friendly Nudge
If you’re reading this and thinking, “I’m pretty sure I renewed… I think,” now’s the time to double-check. Log into your account, look at your renewal date, and confirm your payment method. If you’re on auto-renew, make sure the charge went through. If you’re not, take a few minutes to renew manually.
It’s one of those small tasks that can save you a lot of hassle down the road.
Final Thoughts: Stay Connected, Stay Informed
Membership renewals may not be glamorous, but they’re part of staying engaged, informed, and protected. Whether you’re part of a professional organization, a local club, or a national network, your membership is a link to a community that shares your interests and values.
So take a moment today to check your status. Renew if needed. Update your info. And keep enjoying the benefits of being part of something meaningful.
Because when you stay connected, you stay ready—for the next opportunity, the next adventure, and the next big thing.
